Cannot mount USB drive in Window XP guest

Post by BartZantingh »

Hi!

First post on this forum, so please forgive any mistakes...

I'm currently running Linux Mint 10 as host OS and Windows XP SP3 as guest in VirtualBox 3.2.10 PUEL. The thing is, I can't mount any USB devices in my guest OS, since they're all greyed out in the 'Devices\USB Devices' menu.

I have run

Code: Select all

sudo usermod -aG vboxusers <my username>
so I am added as a vbox user (if I wasn't already), but to no avail.

Can anyone help me with this? Thanks!

Did you log out / back in? Group changes done that way won't take effect until your next log in.

Also, if one of the USB devices you are trying to access is a printer, you also need to be a member of the group 'lp' on most Linux distros.

Yeah, I got it now...

Although I don't know why it works now and didn't work earlier, because I did restart VBox...

Thanks for the help!
