Using Network Shared printer (Windows ME)

(Host XP SP3; Guest Windows ME) <Host-Only> Networking.
Shared Network Printer experiment.
The host uses PDF24 (http://www.pdf24.org) installed as a virtual printer to generate
PDF files when 'Print' is selected anywhere.
I have installed the HP Laserjet 2000 drivers on ME (simply to create a usable
printer) and selected 'Capture Printer Port' (LPT1) and use 'Network Printer'.
This does indeed send a file to the host PDF24 'printer', but when I look at
it there is just a blank page produced. Am I missing something somewhere?
After adding Win 2000 (Guest) this works properly so maybe drivers for Win ME
are missing?
