Virtualbox 3.2.8
host ubuntu 10.10 64-bit
guest Windows 7 32-bit
mouse is a Lenovo scrollpoint with a scroll pointing stick instead of a wheel.
Computer beeps when pointing-stick is moved.

And so? What's your problem? It beeps when you use it, so what?

Well, it is not expected behavior. The computer shouldn't beep when I'm scrolling pages with the pointing stick. I would switch to a wheeled mouse, except, I want to use the Acme editor which requires mouse chording with a 3 button mouse. I guess the real issue I have is that the beeping is kind of annoying. That is the problem, the beeping is annoying. I can understand how what is annoying to me might not be annoying to another person. That could be due to personal sensitivity or cultural factors. Like to me someone picking their nose in public is gross and it would be annoying to interact with such a person. Whereas, for say a Dutch person, that would not be annoying but would be the typical thing. To prove my point with more examples of annoying to me, acceptable to a Dutch person ( just staying consistent ), I could mention how the Dutch refuse to pick up after their dog's mess, or think they speak good English, overuse the word lekker, the circle of death, or how I find you annoying but you are oblivious to it.
Anyway, just being polite in answering your question. I'm using a workaround by disabling the internal speaker.

I won't go into details of your 'assumptions', but stick on-topic instead.
The reason I replied like that was because you just stated something. There wasn't a question or anything. Just take a good look at your post and mine, pay special note to punctuation. You have no question mark at all, meaning there is no question to answer. My response is then "it beeps, good for you".
Well, to get to the actual problem, I would say check the system for sound events or mute the Guest audio. VB does not provide a pc speaker, so it can't beep from that. If the Host beeps, then it's something different.
