Using VirtualBox version 3.2.10. I'm running Windows 2003 Server (SP2) for a guest OS. I'd like to use the /PAE switch in the boot.ini file. I've enabled the PAE/NX option for the guest VM on the System/Processor tab. Allocated 4096 Mb of memory to the VM. Set the guests boot.ini file to
/fastdetect /PAE /NoExecute=OptOut
The guest OS boots up fine. However the network adapters don't initilize. I get the following error message in the Guests SystemEvent log
"AMD PCNET Family PCI Ethernet Adapter #2 : Could not allocate the resources necessary for operation."
When I set the memory of the VM to use roughly 2Gb of memory, all is well. In other words, the Network Adapters work fine. Can someone please tell me if using the /PAE switch works, or am I doing something wrong?
Using more than 4Gb of memory with PAE switch

Re: Using more than 4Gb of memory with PAE switch
you could try one of the other emulated adapters or virtio-net: http://www.linux-kvm.org/page/WindowsGuestDrivers"AMD PCNET Family PCI Ethernet Adapter #2 : Could not allocate the resources necessary for operation."
