nightmare on vhd street

Post by tigros »

hi, i have a 20 or so snapshot tree stemming from one base windows xp. i made another snapshot today and went to delete the previous one but it failed, possibly cause of low disk space, then would get corrupt header error when trying to load the latest snapshot, ok fine, not the end of the world.

then wanted to free the 20 gigs these 2 broken vhd's was taking so just tried renaming the vhd's and loaded vbox, got some error, closed vbox and renamed the vhd's back to original. now the nightmare begins, i cant access any snapshots nothing! somehow the xml is invalid after my little renaming experiment, how do i fix the xml? tried the -prev.xml but didn't work.

any help would be appreciated. wish there was a corrupt header fixer somewhere but couldn't find anything that worked.

thanks

camon guys! really need to get this fixed asap. simply renaming a vhd for a minute cant possibly destroy 6 months of work could it??

anyway more details: Required AttachedDevice/Image element is missing - E_FAIL (0x80004005)

hasn't anyone ever renamed a vhd before?

trying to edit the xml in some way that will help but no luck so far, any hints?
