disable guest time sync

Hi,

I am using VB 3.2.10 on a OSX host and Ubuntu Destktop 10.04 guest.

Trying to disable the time sync, and make the guest starting on March, 15 2010 - I have found some clues on the VB manual so I did the following:

VBoxManage guestproperty set "Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop" --timesync-set-start 15032010
VBoxManage guestproperty set "Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop" --timesync-interval 0

Rebooted the guest, but it keep syncing time.

Then tried the following (on the guest):

s?udo apt-get remove ntpdate
Rebooted but it still keep syncing time

Can please anyone give me a clue about how to disable the time sync on a Ubuntu guest?

If you have installed the Guest Additions, you can remove them (but loose resolution and mouse), but you can then install the GA again with the parameter to disable timesync. There should be a parameter, but I haven't found it. Else you just remove the GA and have to deal with the low resolution and mouse.

Top is host time bottom is guest time.

Well I don't know. What happens if you just issue VBoxManage in a terminal and hit enter? Do you get a listing of various commands?
This is done on the host.

I see. Must be the difference of OSE and PUEL. I tried VBoxManage setextradata "<VM Name>" "GetHostTimeDisabled" "1" on my DEV machine (OSE) and it refuses to work. It does work on my PUEL machine.

I will make a note and save it for future reference.
