I have just installed Linux Mint Debian Edition as a guest on my OS X (10.6.4) host, VirtualBox 3.2.10. I installed Guest Additions, but the display resolution is not being detected properly.
That is, I think LMDE is having problems with VBOX1 as the display -- my MacBook's native display res is 1280x800. The first time I booted into LMDE with Guest Additions, it read 1168x864 or some such. This time my only options are 800x600 and 640x480. I was able -- the first time -- to use xrandr in the guest to manually change the display resolution, but wasn't able to figure out how to make that persistent. This time, the same method won't work at all.
I have cross-posted at the Linux Mint Forums, but I suspect most of the users there are going to see this as a VBox issue.
'preciate any help!

Don't trust the resolution you can pick in the Display settings. If the Guest Additions are installed and working properly (seamless mouse is a good indication), then you just change window size and the resolution should adjust accordingly.

Re: display problems - Linux Mint Debian Edition guest
Seamless mouse was working just fine, but changing window size does nothing for me. I shut down the virtual machine completely, booted into it again, and it's displaying properly. So I don't know what's going on. I'll mark the thread [Solved], I guess, but I don't know why it's working now.Sasquatch wrote:Don't trust the resolution you can pick in the Display settings.
