I don't know if LMDE is one of the "problem" distros or not but, if I try and enable Compiz, it not only locks up the guest, but VB and my Mac as well. If I run "glxinfo" I get this...

Then its a problem distro

At the moment im fighting with fedora 14. Desktop effects doesnt work, too.

yes, I have Fedora 14 as well. They don't work for me either. I hear they are working on a few distros.
