Hi all,
I am running a single virtualbox machine on a windows server 2008 host. The guest vb machine is a mission critical LAMP setup. I would like to to backup the whole image offsite, which files or folders should I backup?
Also, is selecting the second nic port (Bridged setting) on the dual nic card gain any performance?
Thanks
Heeter

If you want to backup your VM, then with Linux getting the VDI is enough. If you want restoration to be easier, you grab the entire .VirtualBox folder from the user profile. Else you need to recreate the VM config and get the NICs inside the VM to work again.
As for the performance, it all depends on what is set on the Host. If you already team them to work together and you selected the teamed interface to be used by the VM, then it won't add anything. If the two interfaces are separate on the Host and both are enabled etc., then you can get better performance IF you bond them on the Guest AND if the line you're using has that capacity. It's of little use to bond two NICs together if the internet connection can already be fully utilized with one.
