(Solved) Fedora 14 and 3D acceleration

Post by loukingjr »

I just installed the release version of Fedora 14 in VB 3.2.10. The install seemed to go fine, but when I clicked on desktop effects I got an error dialog telling me I don't have 3D hardware support.

any ideas?

You do if you run the Beta 4 version.
If you have 3.1.12, (in a terminal) try running "make install" in the /var/lib/dkms.../vboxvideo folder as SU and then reboot

I was thinking about installing Beta 4. Think it's fairly stable? I don't do anything important with my guests except make themes.

No it has its issues (read the Beta forum). If you want 3D try what I suggested first.

Then you didn't install dkms.
search for vboxvideo. Maybe in /opt?
/opt/VBoxGuestAdditions.../src/..../vboxvideo
