VB on poor graphic integrated card

Post by networker1 »

HI

I am thinking to buy a laptop but for money reasons I only can get http://www.solonotebooks.net/notebooks/829/ model. I think that is good CPU and good RAM ammount but reading on the net i've seen that the INTEL GMA is not good.

well, i'm not gamer, I only wonder if I could use in a descent way VB on this laptop.

regards.

Why would the video card be an important factor for VM performance? It's only an issue when you want to use 3D and even the Intel HD GMA has OpenGL acceleration and can give some eye-candy to Linux. I have a laptop with the GMA3100HD and Linux VMs can run Compiz. It's not as smooth as native or with an nVidia video card, but it's possible ;). Intel has grown a lot with their onboard video cards, in the past they were only DX capable and OpenGL was in software mode. Now it's in the hardware too.
