Win98 freezes while loading Installation

Hi.

First of all, Virtualbox is really a great Virtualization software, and best of all, it's free! I don't really want to have to install another one like Virtualbox, to fix my problem.

Okay, I've burned a copy of Windows 98FE (I own the disk, I just burned a copy that I ripped from the original CD), and I've been using WinImage and the boot disk site (which I don't remember) to launch the burned copy (unbootable version). I've gotten to the part when I run "setup.exe /p j" from the DOS prompt, and it goes through ScanDisk fine. But, it freezes after that:

"Please wait while Setup initializes.
Scanning system registry...
W(yes, the W was underlined, that is where the prompt curser was) requires 7340032 bytes available on your C:"

...with that on the screen.

Host: Windows XP SP2/3
Guest: Windows 98 w/ 512MB of my RAM, and 346MB for HDD space.

Can anybody help? (Long post, I know. I try to avoid that)

Windows 98 is not a supported guest. Some have gotten it to work and you can read up on it here. http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewforum.php?f=28
The question I have is why don't you use the original install cd? Some of the problem might be trying to create an image.

Well, my original disc is scratched quite a bit.. I'll try to install from the original install discs using the instructions there, thanks

Hi, I've fixed the problem.

The hard drive (Virtual, i should add) was corrupted. I had to recreate another one, and format it. Thanks for your help!
