Can't boot RHEL6 into runlevel 5 (GUI)

Just created new vm with the RHEL6 Beta image and installed successfully however everytime i start it up or reboot it drops me to runlevel 3 (text mode) and I cant get to multiuser mode by running # init 5 to use the GUI. I changed the inittab to use rc5 but now it just freezes when I start the vm. (print screen attached) I believe it may be a problem between the kernel and my laptop's CPU arch??
Kernel: 2.6.32-37.el6.i686
guest: RHEL 6 Beta
Host: Win 7 Enterpise
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 @ 2.5GHz (PAE)

Have you even considered it's a bug in the Beta release? We don't support development releases of an OS unless there is a very good reason. If you really want to know if it's a VB issue, get the final release of Red Hat (that would be 5.x) and see if that gives the same problem. I doubt it though. You may also check Red Hat's bugzilla for this issue.

I can tell you that I have tested RHEL 6 BETA1 (32+64-bit) guests, and it works great on VirtualBox 3.2.8 (including Guest Additions, except 3D).
Please attach vbox.log, so I can take a look.

I have to agree with
Technologov on this. I have tested RHEL beta 1, and beta 2 (server & desktop) with no actual problems. Even on VirtualBox 3.2.10.
I do have a performance problem as far as boot time but once running it works fairly well.

During installation, graphical mode worked ? Or you installed in text-mode ?

Same problem here with VirtualBox 3.2.12
The strange thing is, VMware player has the exact same problem.
De ISO I used is good, I checked with sha256.
So my guess now it is something with my configuration.
Either within Virtualbox or some conflict with the host system (windows 7) ?

WORKS-FOR-ME
RHEL 6.0 Final (32+64bit) on VBox 3.2.8 on XP host.
After this, GA installs and works correctly.

I have had same problem, but have forgot the mainissue
If RunLevel is 3, then it is possible that X packages havent been installed
I have tried installing it additionaly, but musthave forgot some package.
Then I have decided to go again, and choose to customise packages now, and choose desktop (Gnome od KDE), and choose X Windows system to be installed
And it worked.
So maint thing is, during install, to choose packages that give you enough software to go to lvl5 in the first place.
that is all
Hope it helps

I've experienced just like what you did.
In my case, RHEL6 installation was proceeded on CLI, too.
And it was caused by short of memory.
After increasing allocated memory to 1GB, the issue is resolved.
Have a try, and I hope your vm goes well, too.
