I filed a ticket, but I wanted to come to the forums to see if anyone had any suggestions they could give me. I would welcome suggestions for more information I can add to the bug report, or suggestions as to what settings would be best to change so that I can get this machine running. I am baffled that this machine would run flawlessly for so long and would suddenly start failing when no obvious outside stimuli have been involved. (No Mac or linux updates in 25 days)

VNC on KDE4 doesn't work with tightvnc or vnc4server. I gather from what I read on google that it won't work with other vnc servers, so I am anxious to get something going, as remote X is OK, but not ideal.

I had to wait until the weekend to get time to mess with this. I did the following two things, the first of which was probably unnecessary:
1. Updated ubuntu security updates, rebuilt vbox drivers
2. Turned off 3d in the guest

So far, everything seems to be working.
