I thought i had a virus because even when i clicked on a link my computer went to different search engines or web pages. How do i find out what i have now and exactly what is open dns server anyway?

So basically every time you go to
www.google.com or whatever, your computer reaches out and asks a DNS (Domain Name Service) server what the ip address for
www.google.com is. The DNS responds with the ip like 72.14.204.147, then your computer can connect to it and you can browse the site. Part of the problem is that if your isp's dns servers are overloaded, it will make your computer take longer to connect, sometimes every time you click, depending on the situation, since the dns request has to be completed.
I'm not sure how open dns would solve your specific problem, but it can honestly make your web experience better in some cases. The easiest way to make the change is to change the dns on your home router and let it trickle down to your home computers. See their site
www.opendns.com for instructions. There are also some additional benefits listed on their site. it's free.

This has absolutely nothing to do with VirtualBox, so I'm locking this. We are no helpdesk for these kind of questions. Go to the OpenDNS website for this.
