Ubuntu 10.10 Boot/Shutdown screen

Post by sfg »

Hi,

I used Ubuntu 10.04 before with the previous VirtualBox version and the boot screen looked like this: http://linuxhub.net/wp-content/uploads/ ... on_021.png
Now, I installed VBox 3.2.10 and did a clean install of Ubuntu 10.10 but the boot screen now just shows Ubuntu as regular text and some small dots instead of those bigger one plus some other messages. Is this how it's supposed to be in 10.10 or I must do something?

Thank you.

This is because the Ubuntu guys changed the display driver. Ubuntu 10.10 will boot in text mode if the kernel is not able to do KMS (kernel mode setting) -- that's the case for the VirtualBox graphics card.
