Need fast hard drives

Hi All,
host: CentOS 5.5 x64, 12 GB mem and 24 GB mem
I have a Windows 2003 x32 guest and a Windows 2008 x32 guest on two separate hosts.
Question: How do I make my hard drive access on the guests go as absolutely fast as possible?
Many thanks,
-T

Get a super high performance RAID configuration with high performance hard disks and put the VDIs on those. Do remember that the virtualisation layer adds some overhead, so you won't get the max performance of the entire rig as you would when you run it on bare metal.

Actually, what I was asking, and I should have been more clear, was how to best optimize the guest's configuration.

That's a bit harder to answer, as there is no 'perfect' setting for the best performance. Though it seems that using SCSI as emulated hard drive controller has the best performance, even though it's a minimal difference.

Thank you.
I have been using SATA. I am trying to optimize a file based database.
