Directly Connect to the interent in a VirtualBox?

Post by Catsrules »

So I am trying to get Virtual Untangle server, directly connected to the internet, so it can give the rest of the network internet.
I am using a bridge option for the network, the problem is that, the Host (windows 2k8 server) will pick up the internet IP first, and leaving Untangle with out one.
I want the opposite to happen, the Untangle to get the ip and the 2k8 server to be with out. Or better yet, hide that card completely from the host, and just the virtualBox gets it.

I am not sure this is even possible.

Any ideas?

You control that from the NIC properties in the host OS, not from VirtualBox. If you want only the vm to use the NIC, clear all of the checkboxes except VirtualBox Bridged Networking Filter Driver. The vm will be able to use the NIC but the host will not.
