network two virtual machines

Here is the scenario. I have one vm with Windows Server 2008. It is going to be the server. I will install 2008 on another vm using pxe. I need to get these two networked together. I have tried different variations with the network adapter configuration but so far have had no luck. The server has dhcp role, wds role and dns role installed. When the client boots up, it is suppose to send out a request on the network for the boot and install images from the server but it isn't and I am sure it is because of the network situation.
Now, I have used vmplayer/vmware server and both machines have a vmnet8 adapter so they are seeing each other as if they were on the same network. For virtual box I have no idea how to set up something similar. Please help. Thanks.

Probably not going to work with the VMware net adapter.
Easiest way is to setup an internal network and make sure they both are on the same intnet. If you are going to need the Internet on any of these two machines you need a third VM setup to do your routing and add one adapter to the public side and a second adapter set the the same intnet (private side).
See Chapter 6. Virtual networking in your VirtualBox users guide for modes and how to use them.

I didn't actually mean I was going to try to use vmware with virtualbox. What I meant is what one can do with vmware I would like to be able to do with virtual box. So far I have it on the network--it will locate the dhcp server and perform a network boot but it won't run the installation. Not sure why it won't do it.

Same answer use the internal network. Other than that you can use Bridged but you will find setting up the network will be harder unless you are advanced in Windows networking.

Actually I had tried that but it didn't work. In fact I've tried all the network adapter variations and only got as far as it being provided the IP address by my DHCP server but it wouldn't run the installation (yes it would do the network boot). I had the WDS set up the same as I did with vmplayer so not sure what the problem was. (One system had to use the other system as its DHCP server, DNS server and WDS server and it just wouldn't do it). I've given up for the moment.
