One day of search on google and here but still lost
I'm using virtualbox for months without any pb. I don't use it every day so that I can't figure out what broke the install. There's one big thing which changed : I recently installed a linux with a dual boot on my Macbook Pro. For this purpose I use rEFIt to boot. Maybe this can cause trouble to virtualbox? Maybe I update virtualbox too... I'm actually trying to use the 3.2.8 version
Here is all the history: I was running perfectly a windows 7 virtual machine with virtualbox.
- A few days ago, I was unable to launch virtualbox.
I found this error on the console :
- I tried to re-install the 3.2.8 version. All seems to be fine but the install seems partial. I get the following error when I tried to launch it :04/10/10 23:32:19 com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[541] ([0x0-0x11e41e3].org.virtualbox.app.VirtualBox[34211]) Exited with exit code: 1
04/10/10 23:33:29 com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[541] ([0x0-0x11f71f6].org.virtualbox.app.VirtualBox[34253]) posix_spawn("/Applications/VirtualBox.app/Contents/MacOS/VirtualBox", ...): Permission denied
- I opened the package and compared it to the package installed on my iMac. I saw that the aliases in "Content/MacOS/" were broken. So changing the permissions I created new ones. Doing this the icon of the app seems to be fine. But that's not help to launch virtualbox. There's no message box error but I found this in the console :You cannot open the application "Virtual.app" because it is damaged or incomplete
- I finally tried to install the 3.2.6 version with same effect than the 3.2.8 one09/10/10 21:19:36 [0x0-0xac0ac].org.virtualbox.app.VirtualBox[5545] /System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/A/Support/LaunchCFMApp[5545] Launch failed with error code -2857 (cfragCFragRsrcErr) for application /Applications/temp/VirtualBox.app/Contents/MacOS/VirtualBox
09/10/10 21:19:36 com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[476] ([0x0-0xac0ac].org.virtualbox.app.VirtualBox[5545]) Exited with exit code: 215
Since the only thing I found is that pb of aliases and that they seems to point to AMD or X86 version of a binary. I wonder if booting with rEFIt can cause this trouble: not to be able on the install to know what type of processor is running... It could seems crazy but that's all I have
Thanks and excuse me for my poor english
Tom
