Can't copy from Excel 2007 in XP guest to Mac host

I can't seem to copy data from Excel 2007 running in an XP guest and paste it into Apple Mail in the host. After copying and switching to the Mac host, the clipboard appears to be empty. Copy and paste within Excel 2007 in the XP guest works, as does copying a filename from the Windows desktop to Apple Mail. I've tried googling for a solution but no one else seems to have the same issue.
I'm running v3.2.8 with additions on a Mac OS X 10.6.4 host. Please help! Thanks.
