Ubuntu 10.04 Hardware Compatibility & VB

so, I am a completel noob to - well alot, but most specifically to VB and to Linux - so if this is a ridiculous question, please bare with me. I have Ubuntu 10.04 installed as guest w/in VB, but my actual system is dual-boot win7 and Fedora 13 (win7 is host). In Fedora I'm having compatibility issues w/ my wireless chipset (realtek 8191e). In Ubuntu, via VB, I am not experiencing any of those issues at all.

Does anyone know if in VB Ubuntu is using unique drivers in communicating w/ the wireless nic, or is it biggy-packing the win7 drivers? Or i guess, to be more clear, can I take the fact that i'm not experiencing any connectivity issues w/ Ubuntu w/in VB as an indication that I would also avoid those issues if Ubuntu was installed on my actual HD?

Thanks alot!

IMHO Ubuntu is by far the best distro for compatibility. I have it on all but one of my units which is Windows due to the fact that I still need to support Windows machines.

The VM does not see the Host hardware like that, it gives the VM a virtual network adapter and uses the Host network for access. So if the Host has perfect connectivity, so will the Guest.

As for the drivers in Linux for your Realtek wifi card, have you tried the compat wireless set? See www.linuxwireless.org for more information.
