How to install gust addition on Ubuntu machine

Post by n179911 »

Hi,

I have installed vitualbox 3.2.8 on macosx 10.5.
And I have created an ubuntu 10.10 RC machine on it.

But when I try to install guest addition on ubuntu 10.10 rc machine, i get this error:

Code: Select all

Building the VirtualBox Guest Additions kernel modules
Building the main Guest Additions module ...done.
Building the shared folder support module ...done.
Building the OpenGL support module ...done.
Doing non-kernel setup of the Guest Additions ...done.
Starting the VirtualBox Guest Additions ...done.
Installing the Window System drivers
Warning: unknown version of the X Window System installed. Not installing
X Window System drivers.
Installing graphics libraries and desktop services components ...done.
Can you please tell me how to get the X window system drivers install? Right now, when I resize the virtual machine window, the ubuntu environment does not resize.

Thank you.

The present guest additions do not support the beta version of Ubuntu. This is to be fixed with the next maintenance release.
There are a few temporary non-supported work-a-rounds posted here in the forums. Google Ubuntu 10.10 site:forums.virtualbox.org
