Ubuntu-Guest on Windows7-Host with Nvidia Optimus

Post by marine2k »

Hello,

I am considering buying a new Notebook with Nvidia Optimus-Technology ([1]).
I would use Windows7 as Hostsystem and use Ubuntu 10.04 as Guestsystem with Virtualbox - anyone here who has expierences with this?
Does this work or would my Linux-Guestsystem crash whenever the WIndows-drivers switch between the onboard Intel graphics card and the dedicated Nvidia Card?

i hope someone can help me, didn't find anything about this topic in google... :(

greets,
happi

Does a game crash when that happens? I doubt VB would crash if a game doesn't. There are Macs out there with the same system and they require a session cycle (log out and back in) for the graphics card change to take effect. No idea how it's done on Windows though.
