Trouble with saving machine state on XP guests

Hello, I have a strange problem. Recently, with the latest version, I cannot save anymore the machine state. This happens only with XP guests. The machine gets saved, but when I try to start it up again Vbox says it's on but nothing happens. If I click on the "show" button a white window appears, partially off the screen, and I can close the machine from there. But the machine doesn't appear again unless I don't save its state. If I power it off, then the next time it starts up fine.
This happens with an old xp machine and a new one I've created from scratch just to test this out.

I don't see this problem. I guess you could try un-installing VirtualBox and install it again in case there may be file corruption.
Your data, guests, and control files should not be effected, BUT I tell everyone to backup before they do anything to try to repair VBox which you should be doing on a regular basis anyway.

I will try that, thanks. Don't worry, I backup twice a day on two different external drives.
