VirtualBox crash after configuration

I am running Mac OS X snow leopard (booted in 64bit kernel).
I attempted to create a 64bit ubuntu installation. The initial creation of the machine was successful but when I attempted to modify additional settings (changing video memory, other system settings) the VirtualBox application suddenly quit after I confirmed the changes.
Is this a bug in VirutalBox for Mac OSX hosts?

Could you please provide more details? Like what error did you see (maybe screenshots if it's appropriate). And also upload VBox.log for the VM that crashed? Click Machines->Show Log next time you restart VirtualBox GUI.

I have a similar problem. Booting Mac OS in 64 bits mode. However I can not even start Vbox. This is the error I get: supR3PreInit failed with rc=-11 (rc=-11)

Unfortunately,
No log is generated?... so I cannot post one. The only thing that I can say is that when the machine closes unexpectedly, the machine list indicates that it aborted unexpectedly.
However, I have managed to get ubuntu/windows xp installed... however, right after the installation, when I restart the machine, it will abort.
I went back to the 32bit kernel mode and I have not experienced any crashes
EDIT:
i'm not sure about new macbooks with the i5,i7 cores, but the mac book i got by default boots into 32bit kernel mode unless you explicitly state that you want 64bit kernel mode. Is it possible that virtual box was compiled in the 32bit kernel mode before being distributed?
