I am new at using VirtualBox and I am having trouble getting a shared folder to work. I am running Ubuntu 10.4 as the host and I am running VirtualBox ver. 3.2.8. The guest OS is windows XP pro. I set up a the shared folder in VirtualBox and tried to access it from Network places. I got an error message. It said that workgroup was not accessible and that the list of servers was unavailable.
Then I tried to use the command line "net use x: vboxsvr\\sharefolder" and I got the following error message. System error 67 has occurred. The network name can not be found
Any assistance would be appreciated

First make sure that you have installed the guest additions (in the guest)
Next the syntax you are using is off a bit.

Code: Select all

net use x: \\vboxsvr\sharename
Notice the space between : and \\
Remember to replace sharename with the actual name you gave the share in the settings area of the VirtualBox guest
Share names can not have spaces or special characters.

Hi, I'm having problems with shared folders on a Solaris guest.

I've downloaded Guest Additions and created a folder named "Projects", but after typing this:

#su
#mount -F vboxfs projects /Documents

I receive this message:

"mount: Operation not applicable to FSType vboxfs"

And after I change directory first:

#cd /Documents

and then type the same as above I get this:

"mount: Mount point cannot be determined"

Does anyone know what is wrong? Appreciate any help.
