[SOLVED]avoid dhclient to get on internet?

Every time the Debian Lenny 32 bit guest (in a Debian Lenny 64 bit host) boots it has to have run # dhclient before the internet will work. This is far too much work. Is there any way of getting the internet to run automatically?

Thanks for any help.

For the record: Remove, in fact renamed it, /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-
net.rules. Perhaps it would be better to edit it.

Thanks Sasquatch, I remembered you'd told me this in the past.

You could edit it, but removing is a bit faster and safer, because if you make a syntax error, you end up with either another interface, or nothing at all. I hope you didn't rename the file to have the same extension (.rules) as it would then be read as a rule and executed ;).

Nah - just put a squiggle on the end. I think it's called a tilde, but who can tell? :)
