Newb question. My setup: Win 7 Pro host laptop. Lab scenario: VM guests Server 2008 Ent (32 bit), 192.168.100.20, 192.168.100.10, 255.255.255.0, G/W 192.168.100.1, ip static, DNS not set, internal networking only, no DHCP.

Tried pings host-to-host w/ time outs. Reinstalled whole setup, identical responses. Loopback ping works.

Post the results of ipconfig /all from both guests.
When you say "Tried pings host-to-host w/ time outs" do you really mean guest to guest?

Make sure that the name you setup for the internal adapter is the same in both guests (setting area - network). Example: intnet1 should be in both.

You can also run in the host command window VBoxManage showvminfo <VM Name> --details and post here. Replace <VM Name> with the actual name of the VM. Use "" if the name has a space in it.

You should browse Chapter 6. Virtual networking in your VirtualBox users manual.
