Guest Portability

I presently run a couple of Ubuntu 10.04 Guests under WindowsXP (all 32bit). I am finally about to upgrade to Win7 (64bit). Will I be able to install VBox on Win7 and reuse my existing Ubuntu Guests? I can copy off my VDI files. Is there some way to export/import the virtual machine definitions?

Any tips and advice are greatly appreciated!

One way is to backup the entire VirtualBox folder (if you have not changed the default location to store things) and Once you install VirtualBox you can overlay it with your old information. This usually works well. This may even work with snap shots. Be careful to know where things come from and put them back exactly where they were.

If nothing else and you do not have snapshots you can copy the VDI files back and re-create the guest selecting the VDI file when asked to create a new HDD or use an existing one.
