hi all,
new to this so bear that in mind...
we have a PC which I would like to duplicate in a vb environment for testing of an application upgrade. I've used Acronis Disk Image in the past and like it.
What I'm envisioning is....
1. define and setup a vb
2. create a Acronis image of the PC
3. Bootup/startup the new vb with the Acronis restore and dump the image to the newly created vb.
short of some hardware conflict...the new vb will be identical to that of the original PC I want to try the application on....
I'm I wrong in my thinking?
thx and rgds

Re: test setup
Although it's an excellent tool, there's no need to use Acronis here. Just google the web for Disk2VHD.
And search this site for info on "P2V". In particular pay attention to the preparation you need to do on the original PC to make the migration process less troublesome.

Re: test setup
thanks for the input. did a little more looking around and found that I can use the vmware converter and then mount the image to a Sun VB... worked like a charm. thx for setting me in the right direction.
