Windows XP SP3 running as vbox guest and Microsoft VPN

This is my first post on this forum so if I am doing something incorrect please feel free to let me know....
Now on to my problem....
I currently run Windows 7 64 bit as my base operating system with 3 raid 0 arrays, 2 network adapters connected to a 30gb cable network, 8gb of ram and a water cooled intel qx6850 cpu.
On this platform, i have been running multiple guest operating systems under microsoft virtual machine, i am really not crazy about how much of my hardware that win 7 is chewing up so I started looking at Ubuntu as a possible alternative. To be able to test Ubuntu I installed Vbox and then created a Ubuntu image and one win xp virtual image. Both images have worked very well and I am almost to the point where I am ready to drop my microsoft virtual machines and run Vbox exclusively but I have one minor glitch, 3 of my win-xp images under the microsoft virtual machines require that they be able to use Microsoft's Virtual Private Networking to connect to different corporate networks, so far no matter what I have tried I can not get a connection with microsoft's virtual private networking on any of the win-xp images under Vbox.
Is it even possible for win-xp under Vbox to establish a microsoft vpn connection or am I wasting my time in trying to use Vbox? Or does anyone know of an alternative to microsoft's vpn facility that will work with win-xp?
Look forward to hearing from anyone with some viable ideas.
Thanks,
JD
