It's funny I have a usb mouse & keyboard that work just fine in Virtual Box with WinXP in VirtualBox.
But, my USb external drive will not connect.
I have Ubuntu 10.4, Virtual Box (PUEL) 3.2.8, Win XP within VirtualBox. I have my user ID in the group settings for vboxusers. I set my usb device filter for the external drive. But still no access to my usb stick.

What am I missing?

Thnx.

Your keyboard and mouse are irrelevant to the discussion, as you are not using virtual USB to access them (you're using virtual PS/2). For USB to work with a disk drive you need first and foremost to be using the PUEL version of VirtualBox, install a blank USB filter in the VM, then plug the drive in AFTER the VM has booted up.

Whether this advice is sound on Ubuntu hosts I do not know. You should have asked the question in the Linux hosts forum if you wanted that aspect to be treated as significant.

Sorry for bad English.
Show you how to configure the USB. Describing the situation - insert flash in port, with its turn of the core system. From the menu, selects the appropriate item. Throws out the window with an error.
Thank you.

Apparently the problem creates Vista. Because configuration options are listed in the interenet not work.

Describing the solution. The whole day had to kill.
In the Properties menu - Usb, you must install all the filters that are associated with flash. Running the program should be required to produce the properties of the Administrator (optional). When the program starts Dev hooks stick.
