Connecting a printer not supported by OSX

I have a CD/DVD thermal printer I use for my business. It only has a Windows driver and software. I want to install it on my iMac running OS 10.5.8 (Leopard) and so I installed Virtual Box and XP. Installed the software fine but it will not detect the printer. I have enabled USB Controller and added filters. All my other USB devices are recognized except the printer. It is not recognized by OSX though either. Any thoughts?

If you have set a filter for it, unplug it, start the VM and wait for it to load completely. Then after it's loaded, connect the printer. The VM should grab the device before the Host can grab it.

Sasquatch,

Thanks for the help. I unplugged the printer, started the VM XP and waited until it completely loaded, plugged the USB cable back in. The VM did not recognize anything. Any other suggestions?

Hook it up to a print server and access it through the network? Or share it using another computer (but that would beat the purpose of the VM I guess ;)).

May try the print server idea...hadn't thought of that. If it doesn't work, I'll figure something else out. THanks for your time.
