Wireless on VirtualBox

Post by ExTaCy1337 »

Hello there, I have a problem with VirtualBox, I want to add my wireless device to virtual box, it's a Realtek 8185 wireless device.
I want to add it like ath0 to use it on Kismet and all the other tools, the virtual box doesn't "see" any adapters! (eth0 etc. etc. )
Please help me

No interface, no chipset, no driver.

Well now we know what it is you want to do, but you need to tell us what you have tried and some semblance of the configuration would be really helpful.

That's because you have to add it. Linux is not windows. Well for the most part. Some of the newer Distros detect this stuff fairly well, but not all of them.
First what are you using for the guest OS? Linux = hundreds of various distros.
Also is the adapter a USB device? Have you mapped it as a USB device?
You might want to read up a little in the VirtualBox users guide too.

Backtrack 4 R1. With VMware I could use my wireless card but I dont really like vmware  not too friendly :P
It is not USB, that's why I made this post, cause I am not really sure if I can connect a PCI card.

If it's not USB, it can't be done. See the VirtualBox FAQ.
Read the Forum Posting Guide before opening a topic.
