Creating an Independent Snapshot

Post by crash2100 »

When I try to create a snapshot for something, it makes me add on to what I had in the last snapshot. This typically creates a new 200MB snapshot, even if I just modified a text file in my situation. How can I create an independent snapshot?

Basically, all I'm trying to do is create a single current image of this, and once that's working correctly, I want to copy it to back it up. Is there any way to do this?

You can do it if you know what you are doing. You need to use the CloneVDI tool or "VBoxManage clonehd" to clone the latest snapshot file. That gives you a merged (flat) file you can more easily use as a backup.
