Corrupt VHD in XP guest Windows 7x64 host

Here's my setup,
Host: Windows 7 64 Bit I7 Processor 8GB RAM
VirtualBox 3.2.8r64453 latest as far as I can tell.
Guest OS: Windows XP Pro 32 Bit VHD created by converting disk image by Acronis True Echo Enterprise. 1 Processor 1024MB Ram
The XP VM works great until I try to start the Cisco VPN then on the following reboot the VM runs through a long checkdisk that finds tons of problems then will not boot because it cannot find c:\windows\system32\...
I have rebooted several time with no issues, installed the guest additions system works great until I try to connect the Cisco VPN client which I later discovered had a splat in Device manager. This has happened two times.
Has anyone else seen this type of problem?
