Advantage to updating???

Post by markobaldo »

I'm currently running VB 3.0.12 without any issues.
Would someone please offer a reason to update to 3.2.8?

Current system:
Host: MacBook Pro 2.53 Intel Core 2 Duo 4GB RAM
VB 3.0.12 r54655
Windows XP Pro

Also, how difficult would it be to make the update? Re-install XP? all programs? drivers, etc...
I have 1 snapshot but don't think that should get in the way.
Many, many thanks to all who contribute.

Upgrading to a newer version would be beneficial in case you need the new features and if you experience any bugs in the software.
The upgrade itself is very easy, you can install it on top of the existing installation, or you remove the old version and install the new one. All VMs and their configuration is kept.

Thanks Sas, I was just wondering what those "new features" were. You've made it sound like the updating process is easy so I'll give it a go. I thought I once read that all old "snapshots" had to be removed prior to updating. True or False?
Thanks,
Mark

That was indeed once the case, but lots have changed and it's no longer needed. Make sure you have a good backup before upgrading, in case you find something not working and you need to go back. Upgrading is easy, downgrading can be another story.
