Redhat guest additions installation fails

I'm running RHEL 5 guest on OpenSolaris (Nevada) 129. When I try to install guest additions, it fails because Redaht does not include gksu, which is called by autorun.sh. Wll gksu be included in a future VBOX? Is there a work around?

Gksu is a package from Gnome. If Red Hat doesn't have it, the majority of programs will fail anyway.

For a manual install method, using either sudo or logged on as root, see Howto: Install Linux Guest Additions + Xorg config.

never seen gksu being used for guest additions installation, although i don't use autorun.

just run "sh VBoxLinuxAdditions-amd64.run" as root.

rdhalstead:

I don't have any problems with guest additions.
Tested Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.9/4.8/5.4/6-BETA1 (both 32/64-bit) on VBox 3.2.8

Make sure you choose "development" when installing RHEL guests. (or install this afterwards)

Guest Addition fails with missing 'gksu' in KDE when installing Kubuntu 10.10 beta.
My guess is that it will fail in every 'KDE-only' distros.
'Install Guest Addition' seems to me as a newbie function. It is just about the second action a user will take after installing some guest OS (heck, it even has a shortcut key, as if it would be pressed 10 times a day...).
For the simple minded user, why not check if 'gksu' exists at all? And if doesn't, then try 'kdesudo'?

'KDE-only' distros ?

I have lots of experience with KDE-only openSUSE, and it all works !

And like I said, there is a MANUAL install option. You must have missed my post and signature.
