major vb issues

Lateest version and nothing is working right, shares, ubs drives, freezing, locks up, slowdowns, ubuntu and storage server 2008, what can I post log where are they if u need them, help!

Well you can look in the VirtualBox main GUI for the log files. Click on Machine and then show logs for the guest.
Other than that you need to post more about the actual problem and not just that nothing works. Like settings and the log files. Whether or not it ever worked. Something!

Screaming help does not really give us anything to work with.

Sorry just so confused and frustrated, well for right now with the unbuntu 10.4.1 32bit, usb devices aren't connecting right and showing up, shares aren't showing up, vbox is being slow and unresponsive. logs attached

Shares not showing up, where do you expect them to show up? You defined a shared folder, did you actually install the Guest Additions and map it to a drive letter? Did you actually read the User Manual on how to use VB and it's features?

The VM is slow and unresponsive, well, what do you expect with Windows 7 and just 512 MB RAM? It needs more memory. I gave my W7 VM 768 MB of RAM and it's moderate.

As for USB, can you explain that some more? Like what version of VB are you using (OSE or PUEL), which USB devices you're trying to get connected and if you are a member of the VBoxUsers group. See the VirtualBox FAQ for more information.

No Iam running ubuntu, not windows 7 and it was 768, then 512 of ram, yes I installed the add-ons, I've used vbox before thats why Im so confused on why this is happening, the usb devices are drives, the shares are correctly setup, but do not show up, iam using the standard vbox version that has usb support not open sourced version.

Ah, I was thrown off by the log files where I saw Windows 7, I thought it was the Guest .

Well, the shares need manual mounting, as I have described in my howto (see signature for link).

USB can be a bit of a hassle on Windows, as it tends to grab hold of USB devices and not let it go. You might have to use filters to get a USB device send to the VM properly.

Ubuntu in itself isn't slow, but if you have 3D enabled and you have a poor video card (like an onboard one), it can appear to be slow.

the 3D is not installed, when I try the usb device ( connect it to the virtual pc , I get a pop up in windows saying installing drivers, done successfully , then I get a another pop in windows saying it failed because device drivers not installed successfully, and that it, I dont have a onboard video card.. I did manual mount the shares and even filter them. but on a diffrent pc that the host is windows and the vbox guest is windows storage server 2008, I would always getting failed windows updates, which if I install the os on a real box I dont, and the update (windows) becomes not resposeive

Oracle taking over, has nothing to do with the developers working at VirtualBox or with the forum people here. I hope you realize that.

ok, thats good maybe, but I'd rather got a post for help with my problem instead, should I just wipe my entire host and guest system?

Some more information might be useful. You say you had this working before. Did you upgrade this and was it on the same machine?
Looking at the log files they are full of errors, IO and Com, have you considered uninstalling and reinstalling?
With only 2GB of host RAM you need to keep it under 512MB or no more than 50% of the available memory (see the log files for the amount of available memory)
Also try a new install and see if it has the same problem.
Another thing that might help is to know what all of the USB devices are that you have installed in Windows 7. Not just the ones that you are trying to install.
Last resort is to post a ticket at bugtracker

older versions of vbox , last time I used vbox was about 6-9 month to a year ago, never had issues, now never used / installed windows server (any ver) in vbox before, but when I did I have windows / Microsoft update issues ; as in endless update searching, stuck in a loop, and freezing. As for the ubuntu & vbox I mounted and installed vbox additions it went thru successfully I rebooted ubuntu, mounted / add a shared when vbox pc was off, and nothing showed up in computer no new drive, I also mounted the usb hard drive I get a pop up in windows saying installing drivers, done successfully , then I get a another pop in windows saying it failed because device drivers not installed successfully, so the usb drive wont show up in ubuntu, I've tried another usb device also same thing, I hope this helps

(1) The share in Ubuntu will not show up all by itself. You need to mount it before you will ever see it.
See http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=15868 for how to mount a share.
(2) The USB device that says the driver install failed will cause the USB device to not work. You need to find out why it failed and it more than likely is a Windows issue. Look for conflicts such as anti-virus software or something similar.

Please update your profile so we can tell what the host and the guest is. Also that you are using the PUEL version of VirtualBox. It is really confusing as this is where we look to see what we need to do to help you.

well it seemed to work itself out automatic, I guess it just needed a nap, lol
