How To Switch between 2 or more active vboxes?

Post by Guiness »

If I have 2 or more virtual machines running at the same time, is there any command or key or program that can switch the active session to another virtual machine and make that the active full screen session?

I would love to automatically cycle between the different virtual machines every minute or so, its for a demo room computer. Rather than having 4 computers and 4 monitors it would be very handy to have 4 virtual machines cycling every minute on the one screen.

If there isnt a way to do this then is there any other virtual machine product that can do this?

I'm running Ubuntu linux but will be willing to switch to another operating system if needed, will do whatever it takes.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, there would be many other users interested that also need to have demo type machines cycling different programs and operating systems.

Thanks...

That sounds like the sort of thing that you would run using a script rather than something that you would build into the application.

I would use a script too, and it would send keystrokes to the Host directly (it runs on the Host). With Linux, you can have as many viewports as you want. Put each VM in full screen on separate viewports and use the 'switch viewport' key combination to move to the next VM.
You can even disable automatic keyboard focus, making it easier to control the Host.
