Hello,
my Vista guest, on a 7 host, does not show the internal floppy device - I guess I must miss something to make the floppy show up?
thx for ideas

All you should need to do is to enable it in the storage section and make sure that the device is selected.

Yep, added but still no floppy drive in Vista - just the controller in the device manager!

Click the green plus to the right of the controller.

thx for the patience - done that and floppy drive appears but sits like dead (no access light) demanding a floppy to be inserted?!
shut down VB, tested the floppy in 7 okay...something still not okay

Did you map it to the host drive a: as shown in my first attachment?

I even started over again - deleting the floppy controller/adding it again/mapping drive A to the controller but no joy!
sits like a dead duck

I don't know what else to tell you. It works for me and I have nothing special going on. I know that on some systems I had to have the floppy in the drive before I booted the guest but that was a few versions ago.

there is some crap going on with 7 and destroying floppies when writing (reading is fine). The problem is HPET (bios) must be disabled to make 7 write floppies fine. I hope MS gets it fixed with the next SP
maybe this is related to the problem?... I'll get my 10yo XP laptop and do the floppy work there, no worries!
