Hi,

After numbers of hours looking for an answer on web, I ring to the virtuabox forum door.
I use ubuntu 10.04 LTS as guest and mac OSX as host.

I have a permanent problem of cracked/jerked sound at the audio out.

I tried the following things, but none of them solved the problem :
- I installed the "Adds on" in Ubuntu
- In the preferences of the virtualbox, i tried to change the possible "devices" (audio controler, host audio pilot)
- I tried to adjust the different audio volume in mac, ubuntu, and softare used to make the sound

If you have an idea please ...
I've got no answer from ubuntu forums.

Sound in A VM is nice to have. Its not comparable to native Sound.

In some combinations of Host/Guest it works, in many others not. This is not a VBOX problem. VMWARE etc. has this too.

Actually, it was a VBox problem, I 've just found why :

Owing to the remarks from an another forum, I remembered that I gave more RAM to the guest system than the virtualbox gives by default. Actually, I chose too much RAM to the guest system, and so the host system hadn't enough of it to make the sound worked properly. By changing the allocated RAM (in the configuration of the VBox), the cracked sound stopped.

I changed the RAM of the guest from 1024 Mo to 512 Mo, over my total 4 Go.

No problem now !
