USB not working and locking host

Hi Guys,
In this first post, come to ask for help, if there is any.
I'm running virtual windows xp inside a host windows xp.
The problem is that my usb support is not working properly.
The usb device, which is properly filtered in the configurations of virtual machine simply is not recognized by the guest.
Seems to be locked by some unknown error (at least for me). If needed can post the error window of vbox.
Besides, vbox locks the host and disable the host usb driver.
The host cant be powered off and the usb driver does not work anymore, until a reboot.
Tried to kill the vbox process, but it does not die. Yes, it does not die.
Tired. Help, please.
Note: host still operacional, but cant be poweroff, rebooted, etc...
