Backup VirtualBox

I have only been using VirtualBox for a week. I have Windows 2008 running on the Guest where I am serving ColdFusion and ASP.NET applications.

I am worried about losing all of my development source code as well as SQL Server databases.

What is the best strategy to backup VirtualBox, in particular, the files within?

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Just copy the whole directory. And copy it back if you need to restore.

Simple as that? So if I need to do a fresh VirtualBox install on another machine, it would still work?

That depends on Path and CPU. Mostly it works, sometimes not.

Another way: Copy vdi-Files, create a new guest, point to existing vdi-file.
