Can I run an older mac OS in Virtual Box

I need to use an older version of Quark that won't run on my new iMac running Snow Leopard. Someone suggested to me that I could use VirtualBox to load Leopard (not Snow Leopard) into VirtualBox and run it through that. Would this be possible? And if so is it just a standard installation or would it require a bit of a hack.

From what I understand (as stated in the users manual and here http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=31104 ) the only version of MAC that is supported as a guest is the SL server.

Ok. I have Mac equipment. In fact I want to put Leopard into VirtualBox on an iMac that is running Snow Leopard. The link seems to suggest that I can do this but that it must be the server version. If the server version will work, wouldn't plain old Leopard work as well. I have the Leopard original disk. I guess it couldn't hurt to try. I haven't really used VirtualBox much, is there anything I would need to do differently -- any particular settings I should use?

VBox can ONLY run OS X Server versions, not any other OS X (Client) versions.

If you need to run an older version (Client), then make a unique partition for it and install/restore in that partition. An external USB drive, though slower, is a good candidate; a FireWire drive would be better. System Preferences --> Startup Disk allows you to specify which partition/version to start up

Best of Luck

Yes. I have installed 10.5 (Leopard) as a Virtual Machine on my Mac running 10.6 (Snow Leopard).

Did you have to do anything special to install Leopard?
