guest additions in ubuntu 10.10? (SOLVED)

guest additions in ubuntu 10.10? (SOLVED)

recently the guest additions stopped working on all ubuntu 10.10 versions. can't resize screens etc. anyone else run into this? running 3.2.8 VBox

Problem is the new xserver they put in Ubuntu. The modules aren't build against this new version, so they don't work. Wait for future releases of VB for support. Ubuntu 10.10 isn't final yet for at least two months, so a lot can change.

well, is there a way to enlarge the screen at least to be able to test it?

AFAIK Not any more since Ubuntu deprecated the xorg.conf file. I tried to build one and 10.10 got real upset.
From what I see though it may be possible to run GAs in the next maintenance release, but there are no promises.

If internet is working inside ubuntu VM, then try this method to install new xserver display packages and guest additions which works well in VB 3.2.8.
I managed to enlarge the screen resolution, enter in to seamless mode etc.

turns out this tip works great for ubuntu but not on lubuntu... I didn't check the others.
