Windows 7 guest renders host unusable

Hi all,
I've been running VirtualBox for quite some time on multiple platforms with different guests more or less flawlessly. However a few weeks ago I got a new MacBook Pro. Given my support-role a deployed a bunch of VM's, Linux Windows etc.
The Linux VM's runs flawlessly but starting the Win7 guest just kills the whole computer. The host is basically unusuable until Windows has finished booting, which takes a good 5 or so minutes. Once the guest is up and running all is fine and dandy again. This behavior is not re-produceable with any other of my guests.
Has anyone seen this behavior or know of a potential fix for it?
Thanks
