Port fowarding question.

He is my problem: I am running Mac host with a Windows XP guest and I am trying to use the Windows XP as a testing server. I have managed to be able to see the web page from the Mac but I need help getting from another computer to the Mac to the windows guest so that the people in my office can see and test the pages. I am at a loss on what exactly I need to do.

Ok, amazing what getting away from something can do to clear the mind… I finally figured out what I needed to do. I was not implementing the bridge correctly and I was running a slightly older version of virtualbox. I currently have adapter 1 set to Nat and adapter 2 set to bridge on the Ethernet.

Using NAT and Bridged is redundant. You only need one of the two. When you use Bridged, the VM will appear as a separate computer on the network.

If you use NAT, you need to forward ports in order to access services on the Guest. Port forwarding configuration is described in the manual. Accessing the services of the Guest is done by accessing the Host on the port you forwarded. Let's say you run a webserver on the Guest and you forward port 8080 on the Host for it. Then you access the, from the Host, 127.0.0.1:8080. Other machines will connect to the Host machine IP address or it's DNS name, like 192.168.1.100:8080 or machost:8080.
