Display problems in guest OS gnome-terminal

Post by zakiwi »

Hi there,

Host Hardware: Intel Quad Q6600, 8GM Ram, 2 x NVidia 9600GT Graphics Cards
Host Software: Debian Lenny i386 Bigmem Kernel

This is a pretty weird problem. After installing the guest addons into the guest os (Debian Lenny (i386 or AMD64)), everything works great ... except ... I get filled character blocks in gnome-terminal when I type commands.

It's really frustrating because you can't see what you're typing. Some characters do show correctly, but I'd say that 70% of them are filled blocks.

Is there anything that I can do to try and fix this?

Cheers

Which VBox version? Do you run the Debian kernel in the guest (2.6.26) or do you run any different kernel?

Thanks for your reply.

VBox is 3.2.6

Both host and guest are Debian Lenny 2.6.26-2

Kind regards

Hmm, then I don't have an idea. As your guest kernel is 2.6.26 this cannot be a 3D issue (3D not supported with VBox 3.2.6 guests). Any chance to update the driver for your host graphics card?

Can you post a screenshot of the problem in action too?
